Why good people suffer and the unkind seem to thrive? 3 mindset shifts to trust the process when life feels unfair

I’ve been hustling hard lately, but the results just haven’t shown up. The weight of that disappointment was pressing heavily on my mental and emotional well-being and making me question if I should still trust the process.

Trust the journey unfolding over

Today, I remembered a story; the story of the two angels. And I felt called to share it with you along with the powerful mindset shifts I’ve learned from it.

If you’re in the same struggle as me, wondering why life feels unfair, why good people suffer while unkind people seem to thrive, know this: you’re not alone.

There’s a lesson hidden inside life’s most unfair moments. And today, I’ll show you how to find clarity, calm, and confidence even when nothing makes sense.

The Story of Two Angels

Life is a journey of unseen process.

Two angels traveled through the countryside. They stopped at a wealthy mansion seeking shelter. The family was rude and unkind, and the angels were sent to sleep in a cold basement.

The younger angel noticed a hole in the basement wall. To his surprise, the older angel repaired it.

The next night, they stayed with a poor farmer and his wife. The couple welcomed them warmly, fed them generously, and gave them their own bed to sleep in.

By morning, the farmer’s only cow, their livelihood, had died.

The younger angel, angry and confused asked, “How could you let this happen? The wealthy were cruel, yet you helped them. The poor were kind, yet they suffered a loss.”

The older angel replied,

Things are not always what they seem. In the wealthy man’s basement, I saw gold hidden in the wall. Because of their greed, I sealed it so they would never find it. Last night, the angel of death came for the farmer’s wife. I gave him the cow instead.”

1. Shift your lens: Trust what you can’t see yet

Sometimes, life withholds results or rewards because something even bigger is unfolding behind the scenes. Just like the younger angel couldn’t see the full picture, we too don’t always have access to all the pieces.

A focused view symbolizing mindset shift and clarity.

How to apply this?

When life feels unfair, pause and remind yourself: “There’s more happening than I can see right now.”

Keep showing up with integrity. The unseen forces are rearranging for your highest good.

2. Anchor in kindness: Be good even when it’s hard

The farmer and his wife remained kind, even in lack. Their generosity invited unseen protection. Your energy matters more than your immediate results — kindness echoes in ways you don’t always witness instantly.

A gesture of kindness and unseen impact.

How to apply this?

• Keep your values strong even when life tests you.

Focus on serving, not on immediate outcomes.

• Acts of kindness compound, even if it can’t be seen at first.

3. Detach from outcomes: Let go to find peace

The angels acted with purpose but without attachment. The younger angel’s frustration came from expecting fairness on his terms. Peace comes when we release control and trust timing.

Letting go and trusting the unfolding process.

How to apply this?

• Set intentions, take aligned action, and then release the outcome.

• Shift from “Why is this happening to me?” to “What is this preparing me for?”

• Journal or meditate to process emotions, so you stay centered.

Final Thought

Life may not always feel fair, but it’s always unfolding perfectly for your growth. The next time you feel disheartened, remember the two angels. Trust what you can’t see, stay anchored in kindness, and gently detach from rigid expectations. Your calm and confidence will return.
